Applied Data Sciences / PCIXHSDTM
High Speed Data Link between a PCI-X bus HOST and the Encore HSD

The PCIXHSD board is a new PCI-X bus enhanced version of the industry proven PCI bus PCIHSD2®. The PCIXHSD is functionally compatible with the PCIHSD2 providing a PCI bus controlled emulation of the Encore HSD II board.

The transfer rate between the PCIXHSD's HSD port and the external device's HSD port are in excess of 10MBytes/second. The transfer rate between the PCIXHSD board and the PCI-X bus is dependent upon the host system configuration and tasks in progress.

The PCIXHSD is a re-design of the PCIHSD2. The PCIXHSD supports the new +3.3 volts PCI-X bus; whereas, the current PCIHSD2 board supports the legacy PCI bus which is currently a +5 volts only bus. The PCIXHSD and the PCIHSD2 are functionally identical. The specification sheet for the PCIXHSD is identical to the PCIHSD2 except as previously stated.

Software Support:

Drivers are available for Linux v2.4.x & v2.6.x kernel, Windows NT/2000/XP, and SGI IRIX 6.5. The PCIXHSD comes with a Microsoft C, FORTRAN or PASCAL compatible relocatable object code device driver that is used to control the board. It is written for DOS version 3.1 or higher. There are 7 separate subroutines:

  • PCIOPEN: installs the driver in the DOS interrupt structure and initializes the data structures.
  • PCISTRT: starts a data transfer.
  • PCITEST: waits for completion of a NOWAIT operation.
  • PCITERM: terminates any existing transfer in progress.
  • PCICLOS: restores the DOS interrupt structure back to its normal configuration.
  • PCIMODE: set or change PCIXHSD operating mode.
  • PCISTAT: read pcixhsd status.

Optional File Transfer software is available.

Specifications:
