By using a PC in conjunction with older DEC machines you gain easy access to inexpensive application software available for PCs. This software includes applications for graphics, data analysis, data trending, plotting, word processing and networking. In general the PCDR11 saves you money on application software development, resource usage and access to modern cost-effective technology.

In a Monitor/Capture/Retransmit mode, the PCDR11 can monitor the information transferred between a DRV11-WA/DR11-W and an attached peripheral. If desired, the information (commands, status, and data) can be captured and saved. With the host disconnected from the external device, you can retransmit the data to the peripheral. This provides an effective way to debug or do maintenance on the link between the host and peripheral without tying up the host.

The data can be byte or word swapped (or both) before input or output.

The PCDR11 comes with software to support the PC application programmer. Supplied I/O routines make the PCDR11 quick to learn and easy to integrate with user application programs. A menu-driven interface program allows users to drive DR11-W/DRV11-WA or compatible peripherals without having to do any programming.
